The UAH ASCE won many awards at the 2025 competition in Starkville, MS. We believe the number of awards was a record number for the UAH team. Our surveying team came in first and was given the opportunity to go to nationals.
Another very fun and exciting part about being on the UAH ASCE team is there is so many awards! Competing as a team and getting recognized is a really meaningful part of the ASCE Competition!
Team UAH Concrete Canoe has just won it's 16th Regional championship (2024) and represented The University of Alabama in Huntsville for the 17th time at the national level hosted by BYU from June 20-22. While the team finished just outside of points in many of the categories, Team UAH took home the Innovation award for it's signature folding mold design. Team UAH plans to take this innovation and the many lessons learned from the opportunity to compete at nationals to the next level to find lasting success and a new legacy focused on developing new members.
Team UAH is a member of the Gulf Coast Conference (formed 2022) after a long run in the Southeast Conference, which UAH has represented eighteen times at the national level (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2024).
Five national wins (1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001) and three second place finishes (1992, 1997, and 1999) give Team UAH one of the strongest overall performance records in the competition. UAH is one of six schools (the University of California - Berkeley, Clemson, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Cal Poly - SLO, and the University of Florida are the other five) that have won back-to-back national titles. They have finished ten times in the top five and sixteen times in the top ten. The Chargers remain the only team to have swept the National Concrete Canoe Competition (1994).
The team's National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) performance record stands as follows:
Best Overall 1993 1994 1996 1997 2001
